Liverpool has condemned fans who broke the lockdown to celebrate their Premier League title win. According to Merseyside Police, more than 3,000 fans gathered around Anfield as Jurgen Klopp’s side. Finally got their hands on the Premier League trophy following their 5-3 win against the Chelsea. Nine people were arrested, though a police statement added that there wasn’t a repeat of disorder and damage.
Both the football club and local authorities never wanted a large crowd gathering in the city. “Liverpool Football Club would like to thank those supporters who stayed at home to celebrate the team lifting the trophy last night, protecting their loved ones and our city from the ever-present threat of this pandemic.
The Chelsea’s dramatic match
The Premier League resumed its season last month, few players have been better than Chelsea winger and United States Men’s National Team star Christian Pulisic. On Wednesday, Pulisic put his fine form on display once again, immediately wreaking havoc when he came on for the Blues in the 59th minute.
With Chelsea trailing 4-1 to Premier League Champion Liverpool, Pulisic immediately impacted the scoreline two minutes after his entrance on the pitch. The 21-year-old took a pass on the left-wing, then proceeded to dribble past four Liverpool defenders before assisting Tammy Abraham for Chelsea’s second goal.
