Marsh-Hazlewood blitz help Australia to end T20 World Cup trophy quest, defeat New Zealand in final by 8 wickets

Aaron Finch-led Australian team has defeated New Zealand in the final of the T20 World Cup 2021 by 8 wickets.

Chasing the target of 173 runs, David Warner and Mitchell Marsh smashed fifties and provided the base to their team in the second innings.

Marsh remained not out with his 77 runs while David Warner got out on 53.

This is Australia’s first silverware in a format that eluded them for a long time, thereby completing their cabinet of white-ball ICC trophies.

Earlier New Zealand posted 172/4 in 20 overs where skipper Kane Williamson scored 85 off 48 balls. Josh Hazwlwood was the standout bowler for Australia with his figured of 3/16 in 4 overs.

David Warner was awarded as the player of the tournament for his sensational batting in the tournament. The opener scored 289 runs at the concluded T20 World Cup in 7 matches.
