‘Maybe The Last Time MS Dhoni and I Will Play Together’ Virat Kohli Gets Emotional About Epic Clash; Read

Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli was emotional ahead of the match against CSK and reminisced the old times he shared with MS Dhoni.

Virat Kohli: On Saturday, we might see the biggest group stage match of IPL 2024. The two most popular teams of the tournament will face each other with a playoff spot on the line. They can’t afford to slip up after coming this far.

For Chennai, the answer is simple, win and book their place in the Top 4. However, for RCB, it gets a little tricky. They have to either win by 18 runs or with 11 deliveries remaining while chasing so that they can get better NRR than CSK.

A win won’t mean much to them if they can’t win big. A resurgent Bangalore will look to challenge the defending champions and book their place in the playoffs. With the form they are in right now, they can do that.

Emotional Virat Kohli

In an interview with Jio Cinema ahead of the epic clash, former Indian and RCB skipper Virat Kohli was emotional. He praised MS Dhoni and stated how big it is to watch him play live and to play alongside him.

He also dropped a major hint on Dhoni’s future and stated “For fans to see him (Dhoni) play in any stadium in India is a big thing. Me & him playing again, maybe for the last time, you never know, that is a special thing. We have had some great memories, some great partnerships for India, it’s a great occasion for fans to see us together.”

Coolest Mindset

Kohli further talked about MS Dhoni and stated he was someone who used to remain unaffected during chases. Kohli has become the chase master himself over his career. He talked about Dhoni’s mindset and why he takes the game to last over and does not think about what anyone else says.

“People used to say the same about Mahi bhai. ‘Why is he taking the game to 20th over or 50th over.’ But how many matches did he finish for India? He’s probably the only person who knows what he’s doing! And he’s finishing the game from there. For me, that’s muscle memory. He knows if he takes the match till the last over, he’ll win the game.” Kohli stated.

He further said “My mindset was different. I used to think let’s finish the game in the 49th over (in ODIs) or 19th over (in T20s). If he was batting with me at the end, then the thinking was different. He will take the game into the last over where the opposition team is shivering in fear.”
