Mbappe: After the World Cup final in Qatar, Emiliano Martinez was caught on camera insulting Kylian Mbappe, who had scored a hat-trick of goals in the final match.

Mbappe’s hat-trick on Sunday in the sad loss of France to Argentina at the Lusail Stadium was just the second in World Cup final history (Sir Geoff Hurst of England scored the first in the 1966 final). Lionel Messi and Angel Di Maria gave Argentina a dominant 2-0 lead early on, but Mbappe’s late brace turned the game around and forced the 2022 finale game into extra time.

Argentina players mock Kylian Mbappe

After their victory, the Argentina players celebrated by dancing around the locker room while simultaneously singing “a minute’s silence for,” leaving a pause in which goalkeeper Martinez yelled, “For Mbappe who is dead!”

It took penalties to determine the new world champion as Mbappe scored once again in extra time, but only after Messi had given Argentina the lead again with his seventh goal of the tournament. Martinez is seen in one social media video asking his teammates to observe a “minute of silence” for Mbappe before the players continue to celebrate their first World Cup victory since 1986.
