MI vs GT IPL 2023: Star batter Suryakumar Yadav achieved a significant milestone by scoring his first-ever century in the IPL against the defending champions, Gujarat Titans. Suryakumar displayed exceptional batting skills and remained unbeaten with a remarkable score of 103*, surpassing his previous highest score in the Indian Premier League. Maintaining his scorching form, Suryakumar played an outstanding innings, facing just 49 balls and hitting 11 fours and 6 sixes, contributing to Mumbai Indians’ total of 218 for 5 in the first innings.
Suryakumar Yadav returns to golden form
Taking the crease at the number three position, SKY (Suryakumar Yadav) carried forward the aggressive batting display initiated by Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan when the team’s score was 66-2 after 6.5 overs. Suryakumar Yadav maintained a positive scoring rate throughout his innings, gradually increasing his aggression towards the latter part. During his knock, he took on Alzarri Joseph, a West Indian pacer who had previously played for Mumbai Indians in 2019.
Suryakumar displayed his batting prowess by hitting Joseph for a six and a four in the 15th over, and later struck a four off Rashid Khan between deep backward square leg and deep midwicket to reach his half-century. In the 18th over, the top-ranked T20I batter unleashed his attack on Mohit Sharma, hitting him for three boundaries and a six, showcasing his dominance. Suryakumar continued his assault in the following over against the in-form Mohammed Shami, smashing him for a six and two boundaries, which helped Mumbai Indians surpass the 200-run mark.
Although Suryakumar has previously scored three centuries in T20Is, this remarkable innings marked his first century in the IPL. The 32-year-old achieved the milestone in style by hitting an incredible six off the final ball of the innings, delivered by Alzarri Joseph.
