MI vs SRH IPL 2023: In the 25th match of IPL, Mumbai Indians has defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by a margin of 14 runs. The match took place at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. The home team won the first and opted to field first, however, their decision couldn’t go too far as the visitor team managed to post 192/5 in 20 overs. In response, SRH were bowled out on a score of 178 runs in 19.5 overs. This is Mumbai Indians’ third consecutive victory after losing two back-to-back matches at the start. 20 runs were required in the last over and Arjun Tendulkar defended the target with ease while also picking up his maiden wicket.

Inconsistent performance from SRH

Coming to chase a strong total of 193 runs, the team did not have a great start itself. They lost the star opener Harry Brook (9 off 7) in the second over itself. Rahul Tripathi went back to the pavilion with a score of 7 off 5. Mayank Aggarwal scored 48 off 41 balls, stabilising the inning with a crucial knock. At one point, SRH required 86 runs in 42 balls, but stunning batting from lower order ensured that the momentum never goes too far.

Skipper Markram scored 22 off 17, while Klaasen scored valuable 36 runs in 16 balls, hitting four boundaries and two maximums. Marco Jensen scored 13 off 6 balls. Washington Sundar scored 10 runs in 6 balls as well, but failed to take his team across the line. Behrendorff, Riley Meredith, and Piyush Chawla grabbed a couple of wickets while Cameron Green & Arjun Tendulkar also picked up a wicket.

Cameron Green and Tilak’s record-breaking inning

Earlier, SRH won the toss and opted to field first in the clash. Mumbai Indians had an ideal start in the game. Within powerplay, they managed to post 53 runs with a loss of one wicket. Skipper and Opener Rohit Sharma scored 28 runs in 18 balls, hitting six boundaries. Ishan Kishan scored 38 runs off 31 balls, playing a crucial knock in the innings.

However, in the end, the finishers played a significant role and took the team to a total of 192/5 in 20 overs. Cameron Green stood up to the occasion and scored 64 runs in 40 balls. Tilak Verma scored 37 in 17 balls and made the much-needed contribution. Suryakumar Yadav once again failed to score big and was dismissed for a score of 7 runs in 3 balls. Marco Jensen grabbed a couple of wickets while Bhuvneshwar and Natarajan grabbed each wicket as well.
