Mohamed Salah: Liverpool defeated Manchester City 1-0 after overcoming a difficult test at Anfield. Liverpool narrowly defeated the Premier League champions thanks to a single goal from Egyptian striker Mohamed Salah.
With this victory, Liverpool increased its Premier League position to seventh. The defeat keeps Manchester City in second place in the league, four points behind league-leading Arsenal.

After a boring and tense first half, Salah was denied by Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson in the opening seconds of the second. Only a few minutes later, Phil Foden scored a goal for Manchester City. Erling Haaland, a striker, was found to have fouled Fabinho of Liverpool in the buildup to the goal, and as a result, VAR disallowed the goal.
For the in-form Haaland, who was twice denied by Alisson, it was not meant to be. Salah scored the game’s sole goal in the 76th minute following numerous close calls for both teams.
As soon as Alisson noticed Salah alone with Manchester City fullback Joao Cancelo, he blasted the ball forward. The Portuguese full-back mishandled the pass, putting the Egyptian and Ederson in another one-on-one position. However, Salah was able to slip the ball past the Brazilian goalie this time, giving Liverpool a critical lead. In the history of the competition, Alisson’s third assist to Salah is a record high for a goalie.
