MS Dhoni: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has approached legendary captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni for the T20 World Cup 2026, as per media reports.
Cricket experts believe that the board may be considering the name of Dhoni as a mentor for the T20 World Cup 2026.
It is believed that the BCCI wants to leverage the sharp cricketing brain of the former World Cup winning captain in the Indian dressing room.
MS Dhoni and Gautam Gambhir
It has been widely reported in the media circles that Gautam Gambhir, the present coach of the Indian cricket team, do not share good terms with Dhoni. However, the dynamics of the dressing room can change completely and for the better if Dhoni decides to join the team as a mentor. It seems that the BCCI is confident that the combination of Dhoni as the mentor and Gambhir as the coach could give India a distinctive edge in defending the T20 title.
Fondly called Thala and Captain Cool, MS Dhoni boasts one of the game’s most impeccable records blending wicket-keeping excellence, batting prowess, unbeatable DRS accuracy and unmatched captaincy. His amazing statistics reflect consistency, unforgettable on-field performances, amazing camaraderie with teammates, especially with Virat Kohli, and trophy hauls that define greatness. In 350 ODIs, Dhoni blasted 10,773 runs at an average above 50, including 16 centuries. He scored 4,876 Test runs as India’s top wicketkeeper batter. His 634 catches and 195 stumpings rank him among the most prolific keepers ever.
