Mukesh Ambani: With Mukesh Ambani, a multi-billionaire, interested in buying the team, Liverpool might be headed for an Indian takeover.

Ambani, who is currently ranked as the eighth richest person in the world by Forbes and has an estimated net worth of 90 billion Euros, has already inquired about purchasing the club. The Fenway Sports Group, the current owners of Liverpool, has already been lured with tentative offers.

Mukesh Ambani shows eagerness to purchase the club

They reportedly want to sell for £4 billion, and there is a bigger interest in buying the Merseyside club outright. However, Ambani won't be deterred by that sum because he loves sports a lot. He helped create the Indian Football Super League and is the owner of the famed Mumbai Indians of the IPL.

While cricket is a religion in India, football is quickly catching up thanks to the English Premier League, where Liverpool is one of the most well-supported clubs and where jersey sales are at an all-time high.

Ambani, 65, would be willing to offer millions into the club for transfers to help Liverpool's aspirations to continue being one of Europe's most successful clubs given his immense riches and passion for success.

Liverpool has attracted big bidders across borders

He was dubbed "The World's Richest Sports Team Owner" after completing the purchase of the Mumbai Indians, which will delight Liverpool supporters who feel that FSG has not fully supported manager Jurgen Klopp in the transfer market.

The good news for FSG co-founder John W Henry and his colleagues is that Ambani won't have the negotiating table to himself once interest from Dubai, Bahrain, and the USA hardens. To explore the possibility of an investment in the club or a full takeover, Fenway employed investment banks Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley.

Mukesh Ambani's previous connection with Liverpool

Ambani has previously been associated with Liverpool, so this is nothing new. Ambani was considering purchasing Liverpool in 2010, but FSG ultimately prevailed against Tom Hicks and George Gillett.

Ambani was reportedly prepared to settle off Liverpool's £237 million debt in exchange for a 51% share in the club, along with fellow Indian billionaire Subrata Roy. Although that attempt failed, Ambani is active in football and established the Indian Super League in 2014.
