Namibia win first-ever T20 World Cup main stage match as they beat Scotland by 4 wickets

Namibia beat Scotland by 4 wickets to register their first Super 12 win of T20 World Cup. After opting to bowl, Rubel Trumpelmann struck thrice in the first over of the match that helped Namibia to restrict Scotland for a total of 109 runs in Abu Dhabi. Michael Leask (44 of 27 balls) top-scored for Scotland.

The win also marks Namibia’s first-ever win in Super 12 stage of the mega event, going ahead of India and New Zealand while Scotland remain at the bottom of the points table for Group 2.

Chasing the target of 110 runs, Namibia crumbled in the middle-overs but JJ Smith played an unbeaten knock of 32 runs to guide his team to victory.

JJ Smit added 35 runs off 31 ball with David Wiese for fourth wicket in the low chase to keep Namibia in commanding position.

Brief scores; Scotland: 109/8 in 20 overs (Michael Leask 44, Chris Greaves 25, Ruben Trumpelmann 3/17, Jan Frylinck 2/10) lost to Namibia: 115/6 in 19.1 overs (JJ Smit 32 not out, Craig Williams 23, Michael Leask 2/12, Bradley Wheal 1/14) by four wickets.
