However, amidst all the celebration, Neeraj’s mother Saroj Devi’s befitting reply to a reporter has gone viral.

The 25-year-old athlete seized the world championship title with an extraordinary throw of 88.17 meters, his best of the season, in the final round. In the rankings, the competition witnessed Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem securing the second position. Amid the excitement of viewers and Indian supporters, the triumph of an Indian athlete against a Pakistani rival ignited celebrations throughout the country. However, it was Chopra’s mother, Saroj Devi, who truly won hearts with her response to a reporter’s question about her son’s victory against a Pakistani opponent in the global event.

In a video that has since become viral, Saroj Devi was captured giving an interview to the media following her son’s remarkable accomplishment. When asked by an off-camera reporter about her feelings regarding her son’s victory over Arshad from Pakistan, she responded by saying, “Look, Everyone has come to play in the field. One or the other will definitely win. So there is no question of being from Pakistan or Haryana. And it is a matter of great happiness. Even if that Pakistani had won, there would’ve been great happiness.”
