Key players return to New Zealand squad

In a strategic move, Tom Latham is set to captain a seasoned ODI squad in a high-stakes encounter against England this coming September. This series holds immense significance as it serves as the team's second-to-last engagement prior to the highly anticipated ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, scheduled to kick off in India this October.

In addition to Ish Sodhi, who is going home after the T20I series against England to spend time with his family before an intense season of cricket, Mark Chapman and Jimmy Neesham will miss the four-game series as they wait for the birth of their first children.

In order to exercise and complete his recovery from surgery on his injured anterior cruciate ligament in April, former captain Kane Williamson will join the team during England's trip. As he continues to recover from surgery for an achilles rupture in June, Royal Challengers Bangalore all-rounder Michael Bracewell is still not available for selection.
