Team India scored just 387 runs in the World Test Championship final against New Zealand. Now their next Test consignment will be against England starting August 4. India's batting failure was the main reason for the final loss against New Zealand.
Team India's request to play practice games against English county teams has not been accepted by England and Wales. Virat and company have a month and a half to prepare for the England Test series and after this loss that series looks much tougher for the Indian team as they never won a Test series against them in the last decade.
"Well, that doesn't depend on us," said Kohli in response to a question on whether India will be playing practice games against county teams.
"We obviously wanted first-class games, which I believe have not been given to us. I don't know what the reasons for that are. But yeah, other than that I think our preparation time will be ample for us to be ready for the first Test," added Kohli.
However, the ECB had in April announced that the India A tour had been postponed due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
"The India men's team will instead tour with a larger squad to prepare for, and use during, the five-match Test series," an ECB statement had then said referring to two four-day intra-squad matches.
The five-match Test series against England will begin from August 4.
