NZ vs PAK, T20 World Cup 2022: With New Zealand in the big semifinal match, Pakistan got off to a good start and didn’t let anything away. The T20 World Cup’s top all-rounder Shadab Khan gave Pakistan the crucial breakthrough by sending Devon Conway back to the bench with a spectacular direct hit after Shaheen dismissed opener Finn Allen in the very first over.
On the final ball of New Zealand’s powerplay, Conway made an effort to steal a single. The dangerous New Zealand opener, however, seemed unconcerned about Shadab’s fielding abilities. As the ball went through the hands of Shadab Khan, he sent it back to the stumps, and, as Conway didn’t dive, he ended up losing his wicket.
Pakistan’s fierce pace attack put New Zealand on the defensive. With just 38 runs total at the end of the powerplay, New Zealand had also lost both of its openers. Next to go, Mohammad Nawaz caught and bowled top order batsman Glenn Phillips. The team’s captain, Kane Williason, made an effort to act as an anchor at one end by developing his innings slowly and characteristically. By th end of 16th over, Kiwis have scored 116 with the loss of 3 wickets.
The winner of today’s match will earn a spot in the finale of the prestigious T20 World Cup 2022.
