Paris Olympics 2024 Medal Chipped, Lose Shine; Fans Bash The Summer Games

Paris Olympics 2024 has been a center of controversy since the start. Whether it was the opening ceremony, the case of Imane Khelif which was followed by the whole controversy regarding Vinesh Phogat.

And now another major issue has taken center stage when USA’s Nyjah Huston, an Olympic bronze medalist, shared a picture of his medal after a week of the medal ceremony.

What has taken the fans aback is the quality of the medal and how degraded it has become in just a matter of seven days. That is not how a good-quality medal should be after a week.

'Degraded Quality'

American skateboarder Nyjah Huston won his medal on July 29. He shared a picture of the medal's current condition on his Instagram story. It was visible that Huston was not happy with the proceedings.

He stated "Alright, so these Olympic medals look great when they’re brand new, but after letting it sit on my skin with some sweat for a little bit and then letting my friends wear it over the weekend, they’re not as high quality as you would think.

I mean, look at that thing. It’s looking rough. Even the front. It’s starting to chip off a little. So yeah, I don’t know, Olympic medals, you maybe gotta step up the quality a little bit."

Paris Olympics 2024: Fans Outrage

Fans were quick to jump on this story and criticized the Olympics entirely. One user wrote, “The quality of the entire Olympics is degraded.” Many users have also stated that the reason for this is because the Paris Olympics 2024 Athletes' Commission decided that the medals this year should contain an original piece of iron from the Eiffel Tower.
