Kyle Mayers provided a blistering start for Lucknow Super Giants, scoring a rapid half-century off just 20 balls. His explosive innings set the tone for the team, and his efforts were carried forward by Marcus Stoinis, Ayush Badoni, and Nicholas Pooran. Punjab Kings captain Shikhar Dhawan, who had recently returned from injury, won the toss and opted to field first. Mayers was eventually dismissed by Kagiso Rabada after scoring 54 runs off 24 deliveries, but the onslaught continued.

Badoni and Stoinis formed a quick 50-run partnership in just 26 balls. Badoni, after scoring 43 runs off 24 balls, was the next to depart, making way for Nicholas Pooran, who wasted no time in hitting three consecutive fours. Nicholas Pooran smacked 45 off 19 balls. Lucknow Super Giants raced past the 200-run mark in just 16 overs, fueling speculation that they might surpass the record for the highest team score in IPL history. However, their hopes were dampened when Marcus Stoinis was dismissed for 72 runs off 40 balls. 14 sixes and 27 fours were hit during the LSG inning.
