PM Modi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has laid down the foundation of the international stadium in Varanasi. The stadium is all set to become the third international-level stadium in Uttar Pradesh.
Shri Narendra Modi laid the foundation of the stadium at around 1:30 PM. He later addressed the crowd in a public meeting and the District Magistrate, Varanasi, S Rajalingam made sure that everything was already prepared.
The town of Varanasi was excited to host PM Modi in their city. The whole city was filled with illuminated lights and festive decorations to welcome him. People decorated their homes ahead of the visit by the Prime Minister.
PM Modi Laid Down The Foundation
The Prime Minister laid down the foundation stone for the International stadium that is themed on Lord Shiva. He later stated that the construction of this stadium would benefit all the sportspeople in Kashi.
He also focused on the point of positive impacts of sports infrastructure on a city but also stated that it will help in nurturing young talents and will benefit the local economy as well.
The ceremony was attended by cricket greats like Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar, and Dilip Vengsarkar. Sachin also gifted Narendra Modi the Indian team jersey with ‘Namo’ written on the back.
Major Updates By BCCI
This is the first stadium in Uttar Pradesh where BCCI has contributed to a greater extent. The new stadium in Varanasi is set to have a Lord Shiva theme and the design leaks are just beautiful. The Stadium’s dome will be shaped like a Damru while the floodlights will be shaped like a Trishul
The initial capacity will be 30,000 but it can be expanded to 40,000 in the future and the stadium will also be friendly to disabled people.
