Prithvi Shaw goes berserk

As the selectors prepare to unveil the ODI World Cup squad, Shaw's remarkable performance positions him as a formidable contender, gaining their attention as the deadline draws near. Shaw displayed remarkable composure as he dismantled the opposing bowlers. His innings featured an impressive count of 28 boundaries and 11 towering sixes, culminating in a substantial score of 244 runs. Unfortunately, he was dismissed on the third delivery of the final over. Shaw's striking rate of nearly 160 further underscores his commanding performance at the crease.

Commencing with a cautious approach, he gradually adapted to the conditions, propelling his innings forward. As he acclimated, the Mumbai batsman's momentum surged. While he had the chance to surpass Rohit Sharma's record of the highest One Day score, falling short by a mere 20 runs, his performance remained noteworthy. Despite these achievements, his journey in the Indian side has been inconsistent, with his exclusion from subsequent series after a lackluster run in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Northamptonshire record high score

With his sensational performance, Northamptonshire concluded their innings at 415/8 in 50 overs, with Sam Whiteman being the sole other contributor with a noteworthy score. He had already captured headlines earlier in the year by registering 379 runs, marking the second-highest score in Ranji Trophy history, which effectively garnered the selectors' attention. His most recent appearance for India was in July 2021 during the Sri Lanka tour, after which he has been sidelined from consideration.
