Prithvi Shaw: In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) match between Mumbai and the Mrinmoy Dutta-led team on Friday at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Indian opener Prithvi Shaw hammered the Assam bowlers into submission. In the shortest format of the game, opener Shaw recorded his first century, serving as a reminder to the national selectors of his batting prowess ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup.

Shaw, who played for Delhi Capitals (DC) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, was not included in the team for the T20 World Cup when it was announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Thousands of Team India supporters praised Mumbai opener Shaw on Twitter after he played a brilliant innings in the current Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy competition. While some fans praised Shaw for his batting display, others questioned why he wasn’t included in the Men in Blue T20I squad.

“Shame on BCCI and selectors on wasting a generational talent Like Shaw,” a fan shared his views on Twitter. “He should have been selected instead of KL,” another Twitter user added.

In the Mumbai vs. Assam game, opener Shaw slammed a quick-fire 61-ball 134 to help his team post a huge total in the 20-over match. Mumbai has posted a staggering total of 230/3 in 20 overs thanks to Shaw’s noteworthy century against Assam. Shaw led the Mumbai scoring, but Yashasvi Jaiswal, the opener for Rajasthan Royals (RR), contributed with a crucial 30-ball 42 against Assam in Rajkot.

At the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, the Shaw-led team faced the Dutta-led team with the goal of winning the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2022 for the third time in a row. Mumbai and Uttarakhand, both with eight points, are tied for first place in Elite Group A of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2022.
