PSL 2023: In the Pakistan Super League, Lahore Qalandars’ skipper and prominent fast bowler Shaheen Afridi exhibited a magnificent display in the initial overs of the match versus Peshawar Zalmi. In his first delivery of the innings, he shattered Mohammad Haris’ bat and took the wicket on the next ball. Later on, Shaheen took the wicket of Zalmi’s captain Babar Azam.

Shaheen Afridi puts on a firey display

Fakhar Zaman’s superb innings of 96 runs, Abdullah Shafique’s 75 runs, and Sam Billings’ unbeaten 47 runs helped the Qalandars in scoring a mammoth total of 241/3, the highest total ever achieved by the Lahore team and the third-highest overall total in the PSL.

Shaheen Afridi dealt early blows to Peshawar by removing both openers, Mohammad Haris (0) and Babar Azam (7), in the powerplay during a massive chase. Afridi began his spell with a fierce pace, breaking Haris’ bat on his very first ball, which was pitched outside the off-stump. The ball hit the bottom of the bat, splitting it into two pieces, leaving the batter bewildered and Qalandars’ fielders amused. Afridi then bowled a perfect yorker on the next ball to send Haris’ off-stump tumbling down.

After being away from cricket for more than two months due to a relapsed knee injury, Shaheen Afridi made a successful return to the field in the Pakistan Super League. The left-arm pacer has been in top form since his comeback, taking 10 wickets in just four matches played so far.

Thanks to Shaheen Afridi’s stellar performance, Qalandars clinched a crucial win against Peshawar Zalmi in the PSL 2023. The left-arm pacer took an impressive five-wicket haul, ending with figures of 5/40 in four overs. Qalandars’ 240/3 in 20 overs, backed by Fakhar Zaman’s blistering knock of 96 runs, proved too much for Zalmi, who were restricted to 201/9. Abdullah Shafique (75) and Sam Billings (47*) also contributed significantly with the bat.
