Ranji Trophy 2022-23: As Uttarakhand thrashed Nagaland by 174 runs at home in their Group A match on Friday, Nagaland joined the humiliating list of teams with the lowest Ranji Trophy totals after being dismissed for 25 in the second innings.
Nagaland was given a target of 200 after Uttarakhand declared their second innings for 306/7, giving them a lead of 107 runs after the first innings. In reply, spinners Mayank Mishra (9-7-4-5) and Swapnil Singh (9-5-21-4) ran riot, allowing Nagaland to last just 18 overs.
Lowest totals in the history of Ranji Trophy
This was the second lowest total in the previous 41 years and the fourth lowest total in the history of the Ranji Trophy, as Nagaland entered the infamous list headed by Hyderabad, which was eliminated for 21 against Rajasthan in the 2010–11 season.
Southern Punjab with a score of 22 (vs Northern India in 1934-35) is second on the list. In 1960–61 and 1977–78, Jammu & Kashmir were both bowled out for 23, while Sindh also gave up for the same total against Southern Punjab in 1938–1939.

Only one batter could reach double-digit mark
Nagaho Chishi, Nagaland’s ninth batter, was the only player to score in the double digits; the rest of the team’s scorecard read: 0, 7, 0, 0, 0, 1, 0, 7, 10, 0 and 0 not out. In the post-lunch session, their innings lasted just over an hour.
Nagaland will now take on Uttar Pradesh on 20th of December. The Ranji trophy season still has a long run and the team will look to bounce back. Interestingly, yesterday during a BBL match, Sydney Thunders were bowled out for just 15 runs, making history of the lowest total ever in the T20 format.
