RCB vs RR IPL 2023: In the highly anticipated league stage match against Rajasthan Royals, Virat Kohli was dismissed for a first-ball duck by Trent Boult. Boult, who has been consistently taking wickets in the first over this season, trapped Kohli in front of the wickets with his first delivery. The match is currently underway at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. Trent Boult also completed his 100 wickets in the tournament.
Trent traps Kohli on first ball
Virat Kohli is currently the captain of RCB, since Faf Du Plessis is going through a rib injury and comes an impact player just for batting. Rajasthan Royals won the toss and chose to bowl first in the clash. A run-feast was expected since RCB were playing at the home ground, but Trent Boult trapped star batter on just the first ball itself. Before this, Trent had never dismissed Virat in T20 but today marked his first.
After being dismissed, Kohli acknowledged that he had to walk back and decided to leave the pitch. Commentators analyzed that Kohli played the wrong line while facing Trent Boult’s delivery. Currently, Kohli is leading RCB in the ongoing match, and his opening partner, Faf du Plessis, is also in the playing XI.
The Chinnaswamy stadium was completely silent as Trent Boult took the wicket of Kohli, who was caught off-guard and dismissed lbw. Kohli didn’t even look at his opening partner, du Plessis, before walking back to the pavilion, indicating that the decision was clearly against him. Boult’s renowned inswinger pitched fuller on middle, Kohli attempted a flick, missed, and the ball hit him square on the pad. Umpire Michael Gough had no hesitation in raising his finger, and Boult celebrated the crucial wicket with a rare display of emotion. For RR, it was a dream start to the match, as Kohli departed without scoring any runs, having faced only one ball.
