Rishabh Pant: Explosive batsman fails yet again in a must-win encounter; Netizens troll him for THIS reason | Watch video

Rishabh Pant

Rishabh Pant: In the second T20I match between India and New Zealand at the Bay Oval, Rishabh Pant had the chance to don the gloves. However, he had so much to prove but he once again disappointed the fans. It should be mentioned that he and Sanju Samson were chosen as the series’ starting wicketkeepers.

Rishabh Pant’s dismissial sparks anger

However, even after much criticism of not keeping Sanju in playing 11, Rishabh was given the opportunity. But, the 25-year-old once again displayed a poor batting display as he managed only six runs while using up 13 balls and a strike rate of 46.2. He was caught by Tim Southee off Lockie Ferguson in the sixth over, which resulted in his dismissal.

It should be emphasised that Pant also serves as the acting vice-captain, therefore it was a no-brainer to select him for the starting lineup. Samson, Pant’s longtime rival for the limited-overs stumper position, was not chosen for the starting XI. However, Ishan Kishan, a different wicketkeeper, was given the opportunity to play in the second game.

Rishabh Pant did appear to be in excellent form when batting in Tests and One Day Internationals this year. Unfortunately for him, such was not the case in T20Is, as he was unable to use his exceptional power-hitting abilities to any effect.

Rishabh Pant ‘s poor form continues

Pant managed to secure a spot in India’s 15-person T20 World Cup 2022 squad despite the southpaw’s ineffective batting displays during the Asia Cup 2022, particularly in the Super 4 matches against Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

The Delhi cricketer warmed the bench for the majority of the matches in the championship tournament and only had a chance against Zimbabwe in India’s final Super 12 match. Even there, he fell short as he only managed to score three runs off of five balls.
