Cricketers car accidents: Around 1.3 million people are killed in traffic accidents worldwide each year, and in 2022, many cricketers were involved in accidents. Recently, when Rishabh Pant, an Indian wicketkeeper-batsman, was returning home to spend New Year's Eve with his mother, he narrowly avoided a terrible vehicle accident.

Across the years, severe vehicle accidents involving cricket players have happened all over the world. These are a few well-known cricketers who have been involved in vehicle accidents.

1. Rishabh Pant

After his luxurious car slammed into a road barrier and caught fire, India's best wicketkeeper narrowly avoided tragedy. Because of how badly the collision happened, Pant's automobile caught fire a few minutes after it collided with the barrier. Despite being hurt, Pant managed to break the windscreen of his automobile and flee just in time to save a tragic collision. When the incident struck, Pant was on his own car toward Roorkee.

2. Sunil Gavaskar

Following the completion of the third Test match between India and England, Sunil Gavaskar, a former India opener, was injured in a vehicle accident while travelling from Manchester to London on August 10, 2014. Along with other commentators Mark Nicholas and Chandresh Patel, he was travelling in a Jaguar when the tragedy occurred. Their car was slammed into by a vehicle coming from the other direction.

3. Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi

MAK Pataudi, who would eventually represent India, was in an accident on his way home on July 1, 1961, while Oxford was playing Sussex. He was in a car when it hit another approaching car. He was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital, where it was discovered that his right eye had been seriously wounded, impairing his ability to see. The eye was wounded by a piece of the windscreen.

4. Andrew Flintoff

On December 13, while filming an episode of "Top Gear," a BBC programme he has been hosting since 2019, Andrew Flintoff, a former England all-rounder, was seriously injured in a vehicle accident in the United Kingdom. The cricketer-turned-broadcaster was shooting for the show at Surrey's Dunsfold Aerodrome when the tragedy occurred.

The legendary England all-rounder supposedly injured himself while the cameras were running to seek his review on a certain car during the review segment. Flintoff was the one driving the vehicle when it collided.

5. Andrew Symonds

The worst car accident of the year claimed the life of former Australian all-rounder Andrew Symonds on May 14, 2022, in Queensland. Symonds' car reportedly came off the road and overturned when he was driving on Hervey Range Road close to the Alice River Bridge, according to the authorities. The lone person in the car, a two-time World Cup champion, was found unresponsive when the paramedics arrived and tried to save him.
