Rohit Sharma: Injury scare or ? Skipper to NOT play the first IND vs AUS ODI, check out the reason for his absence here

Rohit Sharma: Beginning on 17th March, India and Australia will take on each other for a three match ODI series. However, just before the start of the series, skipper Rohit Sharma has withdraw his name from the first ODI. Though, he actually informed that he will not be available due to personal reasons, it was later revealed that he will be actually busy in attending his brother-in-law’s wedding.

Rohit Sharma to return for second ODI

The first ODI will be played at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. His brother in law. Kunal Sajdeh’s wedding is slated to take place on 16th and 17th March. Also, Rohit is expected to return to the team for the second ODI.

For the first match, Hardik Pandya has been appointed as the captain in Rohit Sharma’s absence. This is also a good opportunity for him to show his leadership skills in 50-over format, having already proven his worth as the captain in T20Is and IPL.

It is expected that Rohit Sharma will continue to lead the ODI team until the World Cup 2023. However, given that the next major tournament is scheduled for 2027, it is improbable that the Indian opener will remain the captain due to his age.

India’s 2-1 victory in BGT 2023

India, under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, emerged victorious in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 against Australia, winning the series 2-1. This triumph allowed India to retain the BGT for the fourth consecutive time, and also secured their place in the final of the World Test Championship. In the first Test, Rohit led by example and played a superb knock of 126 in Nagpur, which set the tone for the rest of the series.
