Rohit Sharma set to lead T20I team vs New Zealand, Virat Kohli rested while Hardik Pandya dropped

Indian squad for the upcoming New Zealand series was announced on Monday. Virat Kohli has been rested for the series while Rohit Sharma has been named as the new leader of the side. However, Rohit’s opening mate and squash buckling batter KL Rahul is named as the deputy for India’s first choice opening batter.

Apart from Kohli, many other big names like Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami are also missing out from the Indian squad.

BCCI has made no statement on Hardik Pandya that he is dropped or rested.

“The All-India Senior Selection Committee has picked a 16-member squad for the upcoming T20I series against New Zealand. India are set to play 3 T20Is starting from 17th November, 2021,” said BCCI in an official release.
