Rohit Sharma: India’s T20 World Cup 2022 campaign got off to a victorious start, and Rohit Sharma was nothing short of happy following the game. After India defeated Pakistan in Melbourne by four wickets, a reporter questioned the captain, “Playing on the cricket field and the challenges and bowling to the right length. Can you just describe their bowling unit and how do you think they executed their plans?”

Rohit said, mimicking the accent of the journalist,  “I felt really good, I felt really good.” After which, others in attendance at the post-match news conference began to chuckle.

Virat Kohli’s undefeated 82-run innings off 53 balls, which included six fours and four sixes, helped India reach 160 for six in 20 overs while chasing a target of 160 runs. Hardik Pandya, meanwhile, scored a vital 40 runs from 37 balls, including one four and two sixes. For Pakistan, Naseem Shah secured a dismissal while Mohammad Nawaz and Haris Rauf both claimed two wickets.

Rohit initially chose to field after winning the toss. With Shan Masood smashing an undefeated innings of 52 runs off 42 balls, including five fours, Pakistan reached 159 for eight in 20 overs. Iftikhar Ahmed, meanwhile, smashed two fours and four sixes while scoring 51 runs off only 34 balls. Each of Arshdeep Singh and Hardik had three wickets thanks to their outstanding performances. Mohammed Shami and Bhuvneshwar Kumar also took a wicket each.
