Indore crowd teases Shubman with Sara’s name

New Zealand’s stand-in captain, Tom Latham, elected to have India bat first, and the Men in Blue took advantage of the opportunity. Led by skipper Rohit Sharma’s century, his first in over three years, and a strong performance from opening partner Shubman Gill, who scored his third century in four matches, India amassed a total of 385 runs. Shubman top-scored with 112 runs from 78 balls and was awarded the Player of the Series for his outstanding performance, amassing a world-record 360 runs in the series.

Shubman Gill has been making waves in the cricket world for his outstanding batting abilities. Recently, during the match in Indore, the crowd was caught on camera trying to distract him by chanting the name “Sara”. This is not the first time that fans have tried to tease the young, 23-year-old opening batter in such a manner. However, despite the attempt to ruffle his feathers, Shubman remained focused and continued to deliver strong performances on the field. The fans can be heard chanting “hamari bhabhi kaisi ho sara bhabhi jaisi ho.”

Shubman would like to continue his recent success with the bat in the forthcoming three-match T20I series against New Zealand after doing so in the past two weeks’ ODI series against Sri Lanka and New Zealand. At Ranchi’s JSCA International Stadium Complex, the first T20I of the three-game series will be played on Friday (January 27). In Rohit Sharma’s ongoing absence, Hardik Pandya will once again captain the team playing in the shortest format.
