Shubman Gill likely to miss first Test match against England

India's Test opener Shubhman Gill is likely to miss the opening Test match against England starting August 4 with a leg injury.

The first Test match against England of the five-match series will begin from August 4.

"He might miss the first Test due to injury in lower part of his leg. But whether he will be available for the remainder of the series cannot be said right now," said an official aware of the development.

Gill, who failed in the World Test Championship, having scored 28 and eight, has played only eight Test matches and averages 31.84.

India has the opening options of Mayank Agarwal, KL Rahul, Abhimanyu Eawaran (stand by) along with the first-choice Rohit Sharma.
