SRH vs PBKS IPL 2023: The captain of the Punjab Kings, Shikhar Dhawan has once again shown his skills as one of the pioneer batters of the generation by scoring 99* off 66 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the latter’s home ground. The knock is a special one since the rest of the team could score just 44 runs only. Only Sam Curran reached the mark of double-digit, scoring 22 runs as no other batter went beyond the single-digit score. This is also the fourth instance in IPL when a batter remained unbeaten on 99. With the knock, he has also become the holder of orange cap with 216 runs under his belt in three matches.

Shikhar Dhawan leads from front

The home team, Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss and opted to field first in the second match of the doubleheader on Sunday. They had a brilliant start in the game as they picked up three wickets in just 22 runs. However, Shikhar Dhawan who opened the inning appeared to be playing on a completely different pitch as he smashed 99* runs, which is surely much more valuable than many hundreds as he bailed out his team from the trouble. This is his second fifty of this season.

The second-highest individual score from the team was 22 scored by Sam Curran. No other batter could even reach the double-digit mark on the pitch where Dhawan played such a knock. The inning also highlighted his class as a player and the skill he commands as a captain and a batter. Throughout his knock, he smashed 12 boundaries and five maximums. He missed on his hundred by just one run as the last over bowled by Natarajan gave just 8 runs to the team.
