Suresh Raina Retirement: Suresh Raina, who’s known as ‘Mr. IPL’ announced his retirement on Tuesday from all formats of cricket. He will not be seen in IPL and domestic leagues but he will play Road Safety Series and other T20 leagues. Suresh Raina announced his retirement from international cricket with Mahendra Singh Dhoni in 2020. He played IPL last year but he will not be seen in Chennai Super King’s outfit from now but he can be seen as a commentator.
Suresh Raina announced his retirement through a social media post. He thanked BCCI and wrote, “It has been an absolute honour to represent my country & state UP. I would like to announce my retirement from all formats of Cricket. I would like to thank @BCCI, @UPCACricket, @ChennaiIPL, @ShuklaRajiv sir & all my fans for their support and unwavering faith in my abilities”.

He can play overseas league
Several Indian companies are having franchise in South Africa and UAE. There are speculations that he could play there. Earlier BCCI said that, no Indian player – who is part of the Indian Premier League – can feature in any other overseas league.

Why he called ‘Mr. IPL’
Suresh Raina has amazing IPL career. The left – handed batsman made his debut for India in 2006, he is playing IPL since the inaugural season. He began his IPL career with a marvelous performance; he scored 421 runs in the first season of IPL and made his mark. Suresh Raina crossed the 500 run mark for the first thrice.

He scored 500 runs in the season of 2010, 2013 and 2014. Suresh Raina was the first batsman to score 5000 runs in IPL. Raina has played 205 IPL matches, he scored 5528 runs at an average of 32.52. He scored a century and 39 fifties in IPL career. That’s why he called, “MR.IPL”.
