Suryakumar Yadav: In the series finale between India and Sri Lanka on January 7 at the Saurashtra Cricket Academy (SCA) Stadium in Rajkot, Suryakumar Yadav continued his great run into 2023 by recording the third T20I century of his career.

The second-fastest Indian in the format, Suryakumar, achieved the century mark in 45 balls. He also became the second Indian and fifth international player ever to score three or more tonnes in men's T20I cricket, making him a rare breed.

Suryakumar continues to rule the shortest format of cricket, and the cricketing community has showered him with praise. Three tonnes in T20I cricket have been scored by the top three batters in the world in the previous six months. He had already hit the three-figure milestone in bilateral visits to England and New Zealand last year, but his century against Sri Lanka yesterday was his first in international cricket on home soil.

Virat Kohli posts Instagram story for Suryakumar Yadav

Many others, including Virat Kohli, used social media to praise Suryakumar for his century. The former Indian captain posted a story on Instagram with the emojis "fire" and "clapping" to show his appreciation for the Indian stand-in vice-captain.

After the game, which India won by 91 runs, Suryakumar entered the dressing room and was ecstatic to hear Kohli praise him, saying, "Kisne daala hei ye story." When SKY saw Kohli's special post for him, he screamed, "story pe chalta hei" and "mazza aagaya." Then he sent a Direct Message (DM) in response, writing, "Bhau, Bohot saara pyaar. See you soon"

Earlier, after India defeated Sri Lanka by 91 runs in the third Twenty20 International, Indian captain Hardik Pandya complimented Suryakumar Yadav's magnificent effort and said the match was Suryakumar vs Sri Lanka.

The first of three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) featuring Team India vs Sri Lanka will be played on January 10; this series will also see the return to the Indian team of Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, and Virat Kohli.
