T20 World Cup 2022 Big Blunder ! Bowler throws only 5 balls in an over as umpire misses it in crucial AUS vs AFG clash

T20 World Cup 2022: The competition for a semifinal position in Group 1 of the Super 12 stage has been reduced to net run rate thanks to the T20 World Cup in Australia (NRR). Due to the earlier stage of the competition being affected by weather, which resulted in the cancellation of important matches, the group stage results have caused as many as four teams to compete for a spot in the semifinals.

In these situations, every run scored is more significant because it will ultimately have an impact on the NRR. Therefore, a tiny umpiring error could have a big impact and cost a team a lot of money.

A significant umpiring blunder was brought to light on social media during the Group 1 match between Afghanistan and the team that had already been eliminated, the defending champions Australia, on Friday.

Blunder happened during the fourth over

Australia’s Mitchell Marsh and David Warner faced just five balls in total during the game’s fourth over. Before Marsh hit the half-volley on the third ball over backward point for a boundary, both batters had singled off the first two balls. Marsh then managed to score three runs on the following ball thanks to some bad fielding by Afghanistan that resulted in an overthrow. A dot ball was delivered on the fifth ball. In that over, there was no sixth ball bowled.

The missed delivery may end up expensive given how crucial confronting every ball is for Australia, which wants to maintain its lead over England in terms of NRR.

New Zealand has already advanced to the semifinals. With Australia, England, and Sri Lanka remaining in Group 1, the competition is now tight. To stand a chance and hope that England loses to Sri Lanka on Saturday.
