T20 World Cup 2022: The Indian star Deepak Chahar will not play in the T20 World Cup after suffering yet another injury during the series against South Africa. After missing the entire season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, this is a setback for him. The like-to-like substitute Shardul Thakur will now be brought on board.
The original 15-person India squad won't be affected by the alteration because the primary squad remains the same, save for Jasprit Bumrah's vacancy. The Indian bowler was also ruled out, and Mohammed Siraj or Mohammad Shami are most likely to take his position in the starting lineup.

After Siraj's performance against South Africa, there is intense competition for Bumrah's spot, and the BCCI will probably announce a replacement for him in the coming days. Siraj's "Player of the Series" performance has now put him into contention. Previously, it was anticipated that either Chahar or Shami would make the squad. Having Siraj play in the nets will be a good start for the squad.
As part of the bowling competition, Umran Malik and Sai Kishore will also bowl in the practise nets. Even if either of Siraj and Shami don't make it to the team, they will still go to Australia as they are a part of reserve team.
