T20 World Cup 2022: The playing rules for the final between Pakistan and England have been changed by the 2022 T20 World Cup organisers to provide the teams more time, in case rain delays the match.

Rain is expected on November 13 and might potentially affect the final at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). The Event Technical Committee has extended the amount of extra playing time on the reserve day (November 14) because further showers are predicted.

ICC increases cut-off time for T20 World Cup 2022 finale

The original provision of two hours has since been increased by another two hours in case more time is needed to finish the game and determine a winner. A match in the knockout stage is defined as having 10 overs per side. However, if a 10-over-per-side match is not played, Pakistan and England would be crowned as equal victors.

“Every effort will be made for the match to be completed on Sunday, with any necessary reduction of overs taking place and only if the minimum number of overs necessary to constitute a match cannot be bowled on Sunday will the match go into the reserve day. Play on the reserve day will begin at 15h00 and would be a continuation of play from the scheduled match day,” an ICC statement read.
