5-Time World Champion Magnus Carlsen opened up about his future and how impressed he is with young Indian prodigies.

Magnus Carlsen: From being a young prodigy himself to being the oldest player in the tournaments, the World Number 1 has come a long way. Last month, he was the oldest player in the Poland event which he clinched after a sensational comeback.

The 5-time World Champion has been at the top of the world for a while now. He is ready for another challenge in the form of the Norway event where he will once again face the Indian prodigies.

Carlsen opened up about his experience as the oldest player on board and also stated how this generation of Indian players is the most dangerous and strongest he has ever seen.

Magnus Carlsen Is Impressed

Carlsen stated that he has been impressed by the revolution of chess in India and he expects to face them in every super tournament. He further stated that Indians are dominating at every youth tournament and every player is different from each other.

Carlsen further talked about how every Indian player has supreme calculation skills and supreme knowledge of the game. He reminisced about his encounters with Indian great Vishwanath Anand.

He further stated that this is the strongest generation of chess players. "Even though the current crop of players, I guess a lot of them are Indians, the players born from 2003 and 2006 are certainly the strongest generation of players we have had since the '90s kids, which I obviously maintain is the strongest of all time."

Different Beasts

Carlsen further stated how all three Indian prodigies are different from each other. "They’re a little bit different. Gukesh is a very calculation-based player. Pragg also calculates well but he’s a little more intuitive. He’s more of a sort of player, in the sense that he’s more of a gamer. Arjun is just a complete mad man at the board. He wants to kill you in every single game. Has crazy preparation and plays extremely ambitiously and that’s what makes him very dangerous."
