Toyo Games: Bajrang Punia shares an emotional post after leading Indian contingent at Olympics closing ceremony

Indian wrestler Bajrang Punia who won bronze medal in men’s 65 kg freestyle category at Tokyo Olympics was the Indian flag bearer at the closing ceremony of the quadrennial games. The grappler tweeted and thanked every one who helped him in his journey.

“I would like to thank the people of India for the opportunity to be India’s flag-bearer at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. I promise that I will keep working hard to keep the flag of my country high. Jai Hind,” Bajrang tweeted in Hindi.

Bajrang defeated Kazakhstan’s Dauler Niyabekov by 8-0 in the bronze medal match. However, he was India’s top prospect to win a gold medal at Tokyo 2020.

Bajrang also showed his dissapointment after failing to get his hands on gold medal. He said he will try harder to win gold medal at the Paris Olympics.

“Nobody gets affected by defeat more than the athlete. After losing the semi-final on Friday (against Haji Aliyev of Azerbaijan), I could hardly sleep. I am unhappy that I wasn’t able to give my best performance because of my injury. I will work harder and will try to bring joy to the nation again in Paris (2024 Games),” he said on Sunday.
