Tragic End! Cricketer Vasant Rathod Passes Away Due to Cardiac Arrest on Field, Shock waves Across Cricketing Fraternity

Cricketer Vasant Rathod: Vasant Rathod, a senior clerk of the State Goods and Service Tax (SGST) department, passed away while playing cricket on Sunday, February 26, at a dental college playground in Bhadaj near Ahmedabad. According to reports, Rathod collapsed due to cardiac arrest while playing. Despite his fellow players rushing to his rescue, Rathod could not be saved.

Reaction and Condolences from the Indian Cricketing Community and Beyond

A senior official of SGST, confirmed that Rathod’s team was fielding during the match. The official further stated that Rathod appeared to be fine when he was bowling, but suddenly experienced severe chest pain before collapsing.

The Events Leading Up to Vasant Rathod’s Death on the Cricket Field

Initially, Rathod was taken to the dental college where the match was being played, but was later shifted to Sola Hospital due to a drop in his oxygen level. Unfortunately, he could not be saved and passed away in the hospital.

Vasant Rathod’s Background and Career at SGST Department

Vasant Rathod was a 34-year-old resident of Vastrapur and had a wife. He was posted at SGST head office in Unit 14, Ahmedabad. This is the third instance of a cricketer passing away due to cardiac arrest during a game in a short period of time. Earlier, Prashant Bharolia (27) of Rajkot and Jignesh Chauhan (31) of Surat had also suffered a similar fate.
