The Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath government is set to honour the winners of the state-level prize money men’s wrestling competition during a special award distribution and felicitation ceremony in Gorakhpur on August 17, 2026.
The event will be held on the auspicious occasion of Nag Panchami at the Gorakhnath Temple Mela Complex in Gorakhpur. The ceremony is aimed at encouraging young sporting talent and recognising athletes for their achievements in wrestling.
CM Yogi Adityanath: Focus on Sports Talent and Youth Development
The Uttar Pradesh government said it is continuously promoting sports among young people by providing athletes with better opportunities, resources and recognition. The initiative is intended to encourage the younger generation to participate in sports and pursue excellence through healthy competition.
Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the state government has emphasised the development of sports infrastructure and opportunities for emerging athletes.
