UPW vs DC WPL 2023: Delhi Capitals have defeated UP Warriorz in their clash at DY Patil Stadium, Mumbai today by a margin of 42 runs. Their clinical victory has given them a staggering lead in the points table. After losing the toss, Delhi came to bat first and scored staggering 211 runs with the loss of four wickets in the 20 overs. In response, the opponents could score just 169 runs with a loss of five wickets in 20 overs. Tahila McGrath, however, showed resistance and scored a valiant 90* off 50.

UPW batters fail to chase
Coming to chase a mammoth target of 212, the UP Warriorz did not have a good start. Opener Shweta Sehrawat scored just one off 6 balls, while Kiran Navgire who scored fifty in the last match was dismissed with a score of 2 off 2. Opener and skipper Allysa Healey managed to score 24 off 17 balls. Star of the last match, Grace Harries was not picked up for today's match.
Only Tahila McGrath showed resistance and scored 90* off 50, hitting eleven boundaries and four sixes Meanwhile, Deepti scored 12, while Devika and Simran could score 23 and 6 runs only. Bowler Jonassen had picked two wickets in the fourth over, while Kapp picked a wicket in the first ball of the fifth over. From thereon, the side could not recover and ultimately lost the match. Jonassen ended her spell with a three wicket haul.

Delhi Capitals's blistering start
Earlier, UP Warriorz won the toss and chose to bowl first. Resultantly, Delhi Capitals came into bat and played with an aggressive note. Skipper Meg Lanning scored 70 off 42 balls, hitting 10 boundaries and three maximums. Shafali Verma scored 17 off 14 while Marizanne Kapp scored 16 off 12 balls. However, after that, cameos from lower order helped them achieve a high score.
Jemimah Rodrigues remained unbeaten on 34 off 22 balls, hitting four boundaries. Alice Capsey and Jonassen played brilliant cameos in the end scoring 21 off 10 and 42 off 20 balls, respectively. Anjali, Gayakwad, McGrath, and Ecclestone picked a wicket each.
With this victory, Delhi capitals now have two victories in two matches and have started off their campaign in the maiden WPL pretty well.
