Viral Video: Argentina has overcome every possible challenge to reach the FIFA World Cup final. Despite France's opposition, fans around the world expect Lionel Messi to win his long-awaited first World Cup this year. The PSG forward has been in superb form in the tournament, raising hopes that Argentina will win the prestigious trophy for the third time.

Messi set the tone for the victory

Argentina fans from Lakshadweep's Kavaratti island set a unique example of fandom ahead of the title match by erecting a massive cutout of Messi deep into the ocean. In a Facebook post prior to Argentina's semi-final match against Croatia, a local vlogger named Mohammed Swadikh pledged to plant a cutout of the legend in the sea. La Albiceleste delivered a dominant performance, defeating Luka Modric's side 3-0. Messi set the tone for the victory with a penalty, which was followed by a brace from Julian Alvarez.

Three-foot-high photograph of the Argentine talisman

Swadikh did not fail to keep his promise. He took the three-foot-high photograph of the Argentine talisman at least 100 feet underwater, accompanied by a few friends, and placed it next to the coral reefs beneath the crystal-clear blue water. They enlisted the help of Ammathi Scuba and Lakshadweep Adventures to complete the mission. According to Swadikh, the illustration was created with water-resistant materials and is expected to last for a long time.

Indian fans have paid a unique tribute

The entire procedure, from transporting the illustration by boat to planting it with the assistance of scuba divers, was videotaped and widely shared on social media. Mohammad Faizal, MP for Lakshadweep, shared it on his personal Twitter account.

This is not the first time Indian fans have paid a unique tribute to their favourite football players. Prior to the start of the Qatar World Cup, Kerala residents drew the attention of FIFA by creating giant cutouts of global football icons such as Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Neymar Jr and displaying them on a local river.
