Viral Video: Call it overconfidence or arrogance but Australia has indeed been getting away with their nonchalant attitude for a very long time. They have been winning constantly and it might have gotten to their head.
The arrogance in interviews and on the field was getting too much and the fans were silent because the Aussies were winning. But karma struck back as Australia was knocked out of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in a shocking manner.
It was a shocking result as the World Champions were defeated by Afghanistan in a giant-killing that will be remembered for years. This begs the question, was Australia defeated by their arrogance? Well, the social media certainly thinks so.
Viral Video: Over-Confident Aussies!
As soon as Australia was knocked out of the tournament, the video started surfacing on the internet and took over rapidly. The video involved Pat Cummins interview right before the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
On being asked who will be the four semi-finalists, he replied that one would be Australia and to does not matter who the other three were. The video was the perfect example of how the Aussies have lost the plot completely and have dropped the ball.
Arrogance Galore
This arrogant interview was not the only incident that offended fanbases. Against Afghanistan, a celebration by Marcus Stoinis left a bad taste in the mouths of Afghan fans, but the victory made up for it in incredible fashion.
After their loss against Afghanistan, Aussie skipper Mitch Marsh said "We need to win the next match, and there's no better team to do it against". But as Rohit Sharma single-handedly brought down the Mighty Australians, Marsh had no choice but to eat his own words.
Another incident of this unchecked arrogance came out when Josh Hazlewood stated that they might lose to Scotland. So that the English side could be knocked out of the tournament.
The cricket fraternity is loving this downfall of the Australian team in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Considering everything that was done by the Aussies, no one can blame the fans.
