Virat Kohli is also the leading scorer in World Cups

Earlier, Kohli surpassed Mahela Jayawardene’s 2014 record of 1016 runs to become the men’s T20 World Cup’s all-time greatest run-scorer against Bangladesh in Adelaide. Before the satrt of today’s match Kohli needed 42 runs to reach 4000 T20I runs. In the 15th over of India’s inning, he completed this record with a boundary off Adil Rashid.

In both the 2014 and 2016 T20 World Cups, Kohli was the lone cricketer to receive the Player of the Tournament award. The most runs ever scored in T20I cricket belong to Kohli. On the list, he comes before Paul Stirling, Martin Guptill, Babar Azam, and captain Rohit Sharma. At the moment, Kohli has a strike rate of about 140 and an average of above 50.

King Kohli’s return to the form

With 295 scored in six games, Kohli is also the T20 World Cup 2022’s highest scorer. The ace batsman has acted as an anchor for India’s batting order even as openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul struggled to get going consistently.

With an incredible 53-ball 82 not out in India’s Super 12 opener against Pakistan in Melbourne, Kohli saved his team from an embarassing loss. He has now scored four fifties in the tournament.
