Virat Kohli: Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the team and Virat Kohli for his “spectacular innings” after India defeated Pakistan in a thrilling T20 World Cup match in Melbourne.

“The India team bags a well fought victory! Congratulations for an outstanding performance today. A special mention to @imVkohli for a spectacular innings in which he demonstrated remarkable tenacity. Best wishes for the games ahead,” the prime minister tweeted.

In the thrilling last over of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, Virat Kohli scored an undefeated 83 to lead India to a miraculous four-wicket victory against Pakistan.

Amit Shah, the union home minister, presided over the honours to batsman Virat Kohli and lauded the player for his innings. “A perfect way to start the T20 World Cup… Deepawali begins 🙂 What a cracking innings by Virat Kohli. Congratulations to the entire team,” Amit Shah said in a tweet.

Rahul Gandhi, a former leader of the Congress, described the game as a thriller and praised it as one of the finest triumphs under pressure.

Against Pakistan on Sunday, October 23, India recorded the most successful run-chase in T20Is. The achievement was accomplished by the Men in Blue, who defeated Babar Azam’s Men in Green by four wickets in the T20 World Cup Super 12 game at the legendary Melbourne Cricket Ground.
