Mohammad Haris: Pakistan Shaheens’ captain Mohammad Haris has opened up about the criticism the Pakistan team received after winning the Emerging Asia Cup 2023. The India Vs. Pakistan final ended with Pakistan defeating India and lifting the title.
While the Pakistani team was busy celebrating the win, Indian media and fans were criticizing the team, mainly because there were three players on the team who were older than 23.
Another criticism was that the Pakistan team fielded a team with international experience. Four players in the team had the international experience of many matches, which helped him handle the pressure of the final beautifully.
Don’t Send Kids
Mohammad Haris answered the critics in a podcast and stated there was no advantage because of seniority. He said the Pakistan team did not ask the Indian board to send kids to the Asia Cup.
He further commented that even after international experience, Pakistan players have very limited exposure. While Indian players had a combined experience of 260 matches, which is a big tournament. He was brutal and did not hold back at all.
“People are saying that Pakistan sent a team with many seniors. We did not ask them to send little kids to the tournament. They say that we had international experience in our team. How much international matches have we played? Saim has played 5, I have played 6. Those guys (India players) have played 260 IPL matches.”
Mohammad Haris On The Criticism
Facts Or False?
While Haris had valid arguments, certain facts were changed or were wrongly presented by the player. It could have been an honest mistake, as the player had no data and relied solely on other reports.
The combined International experience of Pakistan Shaheens was not 5 or 6 matches but 81 matches. Only Mohammad Haris and Wasim have played 57 international matches combined, and there were more players with International matches.
And while the Pakistan A skipper stated that Indian players had 260 IPL matches experience, the real number is 169 matches. And we have seen it so often that IPL can never replace the International experience.
