Wimbledon 2023: Novak Djokovic and Andrey Rublev are set to face each other in the first quarter-final. The match is all set to be a blockbuster with a place in the semi-finals on the line. A must-watch match for every fan around the globe.
Both of these players had a tough outing in the fourth round as both of them had to dig deep to defeat their opponents. But both of them will face their strongest challenge in the competition when they will be face to face against each other on July 11th.
World No.2 ranked Djokovic defeated 17th-ranked Hubert Hurkacz in a very tough match. He defeated Hurkacz in four sets with a scoreline of 7-6,7-6,5-7,6-4. This scoreline is enough to show you how tough the game was.
On the other hand, Andrey Rublev also faced tough competition against Alexander Bublik. This was their rematch after the Halle final. The match was into five complete sets where Rublev came out victorious with the scoreline of 7-5,6-3,6-7,6-7,6-4.
Wimbledon 2023: Head To Head Analysis
Both of these players have faced each other four times prior. Djokovic has a strong record against Rublev with three wins to his name. The Serbian World No.2 was victorious over his rival in their last meeting in Australian Open Quarterfinal earlier this year.
This will be their first meeting on grass court and Rublev would like to change the record for the better. With his powerful hitting and serving he would like to dominate the Serbian star player.
But we have seen time and time again how Djokovic uses his experience to win these types of games. Djokovic has 90 wins at Wimbledon in his career which is a milestone in itself. To defeat Djokovic, Rublev has to bring out his best.
Eyeing Another Record
Novak Djokovic already holds the record of most grand slam wins with 24 but he can achieve another milestone in this tournament. If Djokovic wins Wimbledon 2023, he can tie the record of Roger Federer for most Wimbledon titles with 8.
