Asia Cup 2025 is at risk of ongoing tensions with India and Pakistan. PCB is preparing to organise a Tri-series with Afghanistan and UAE as a backup option for the Asia Cup 2025.

The rising tensions between India and Pakistan might end the cricket ties at all levels. Both countries have been involved in a war, which caused their T20 league to be suspended for a week. According to the PTI report, Pakistan plans to host a tri-series in Dubai with Afghanistan and the UAE.
 
The reports claimed that India will pulled out from the Asia Cup 2025 and without India, it will not be possible to organise Asia Cup as India attract sponsors and broadcast rights.

Asia Cup 2025

The Asia Cup 2025 was set to be hosted by India in September, but after India refused to travel to Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 and pushed the Champions Trophy into the Hybrid model, where India played all their matches in Dubai.
 
If the Asia Cup 2025 is hosted by India, then Pakistan will also demand that the tournament be organised in a hybrid model, but if we look into the current scenario, India isn’t interested in taking on Pakistan on the International stage..

8 teams to fight for the Asia Cup triumph

Asia Cup is getting bigger and better after every edition, as this time eight teams were finalised to fight for the Asia Cup triumph, including hosts India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, UAE, Oman and Hong Kong.
 
Currently, there is no clarity about the tournament, and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) initiated the talks with Afghanistan and the UAE to organise a tri-series in Dubai, if the Asia Cup 2025 cancelled.
 
“With the Asia Cup now unlikely to be held in India as originally planned in September due to the simmering relations between Pakistan and India, the PCB is working on another tri-series proposal”, a well-informed source in PCB said as quoted by PTI.
The PCB official also added that, whether the Asia Cup is postponed or not, PCB wants to organise a Tri-series with Afghanistan and UAE in August.
