Women's IPL BCCI finally approves much anticipated tournament; Know schedule, foreign players, and more here !

Women’s IPL: Tuesday’s 91st Annual General Meeting of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) approved the Women’s Indian Premier League (IPL). The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, which concludes on February 26th, will be followed by the women’s IPL the following year.

According to rumours, the Women’s Indian Premier League, often known as the WIPL, would have five franchises in 2023. According to a rumour, the competition would feature 22 matches and each of the 5 clubs will have squads of 18 players.

6 Foreign players per squad in Women’s IPL

There will be a limit of 6 foreign players per squad. A maximum of five foreign players from full-member countries and one from an associate team may be featured in the starting lineup for a game. Although the schedule has not been set in stone, it seems anticipated that the Women’s IPL will conclude before the Men’s IPL.

Days after the India Women’s team won the Asia Cup for a record seventh time after defeating Sri Lanka by eight wickets, the WIPL was given the go-ahead. In India, interest in women’s cricket has significantly increased in recent years.

The inaugural season of the Women’s IPL and the Women’s Pakistan Super League are probably going to conflict. There are already various women’s T20 cricket leagues across the world, and they are becoming more and more popular. These include The Hundred, the Caribbean Premier League, and the Women’s Big Bash League.
