Women’s World Cup: Points table in mind as India suffer another game

India suffered a close defeat to Australia in the ongoing Women’s World Cup on Saturday.

Batting first India register an impressive 277 runs on the board with half-centuries from Yastika Bhatia, skipper Mithali Raj and Harmanpreet Kaur.

Later while defending the target, Australia started the things with an 121-run opening partnership but the match went till the final over where the Aussies won by 6 wickets.

After this loss, India dropped down to the fifth spot in the points table where top four will make into the final four.

“When you lose you always feel you are 10-15 runs short. I think the way Australia started the innings, were always ahead of the asking rate. The fielders couldn’t back up the bowlers. The batting is something we wanted to improve and we did. We need to do well in all departments in the remaining games. Next two games are must win. Thanks to all the Indians who came here to support the girls. She (Jhulan) brings in a lot of experience. Incredible for a fast bowler to play 200 games for the country, takes a lot of discipline. She is a role model for many players and young girls back in India,” said India captain Mithali Raj.
