World Athletics Championship 2023: Parul Chaudhary Breaks National Record To Qualify For The Olympics; Read Here

World Athletics Championship 2023: Indian 3000-meter steeplechase athlete Parul Chaudhary made history on Sunday. Even though she finished 11th in the final she made sure she won't return empty-handed to India.

It was already a historic moment when Parul qualified for the finals of the championship. But she made sure that she would perform even better in the finals no matter the position she finished in.

Parul finished in fifth position in the heats and recorded the personal best time of 9 minutes and 24 seconds. No one thought that she would go on to break this record the next day itself.

A Historic Moment

3000-meter steeplechase involves the participants having to overcome a challenging track with barriers and water jumps in the way. And the fact that she was against some of the world's best, the pressure must have been tremendous.

Parul bested her Heat timing by 10 seconds and finished the race in the finals with a time of 9:15:31. This might not seem that promising at first, but Parul has broken the national record after locking these timings.

Not only that she also qualified for the Paris Olympics in 2024 as soon as she finished the race. She was the second Indian female athlete ever to qualify for the finals of a track event at the World Athletics Championship.

Record-Breaking World Athletics Championship 2023

These World Championships have been amazing for our athletes. Neeraj Chopra won the gold on Sunday and broke his own personal best record. India's 4X400 meter relay team also broke the Asian record to reach the finals. It has been a wonderful tournament and shows that the athletics in India is growing. It won't be long before we will make a grand statement at the top.
